Now's your chance to get the newest member of the Creative Cow Master Series of DVD training, "Internet Killed the Video Star" hosted by Aharon Rabinowitz. Whether you're an editor, an animator, a multimedia specialist, a podcaster, a web designer -- well, anyone who wants to get their media online -- this disk.
The raves are already pouring in:
"'Internet Killed the Video Star' is another must-have DVD from Aharon Rabinowitz. Concise, clear and funny all at the same time, this training takes a complex process and makes it easy to understand and replicate in your own projects. If you're like me and need to work fast and learn from the best - I highly recommend adding this title to your collection."
-- Jayse Hansen, Motion artist
"Aharon has managed to take a topic that would normally be used to induce short naps and has actually made it entertaining. I've been using encoding software for years and thought I had a pretty good handle on it until I watched "Internet Killed the Video Star". I have never come across training videos that have matched the work and effort that Aharon puts into his tutorials. No matter how much I think I know, I usually end up learning a lot more. "Internet Killed the Video Star" already has a place reserved on my shelf"
-- Sean Cusson, Q Media, Inc.
Available now during the introductory roll-out for $39.95

Here's some hot threads going on right now around Creative COW!
Sony Vegas Forum : Video Compression vs RAW video data
Various codecs offer various levels of compression ranging from 2:1 to 40:1, with full or partial color sampling. It also doesn't take into account whether the compression format is spatial, temporal, or both.
AVI isn't a compression format, it's a wrapper that contains a compression format. DivX on the other hand, is a compression format/codec that can live within an avi wrapper.
think of a wrapper as a paper sack that can contain many different products/items. An avi wrapper can contain DV, uncompressed, mpeg, etc.
Live & Stage Events Forum : Playback of visual content.. best solution?
For the stage shows, we were planning on delivering this on Blu-ray Disk (BD), at 1920 x 1080, and 25 fps (I live in Europe). Is BD the best choice, or will compression artifacts appear (I've never made BD before)? Would I be better off using a designated PC with a fast RAID for playback of a less compressed format, or is there another option I haven't thought of? Quality is VERY important, as is portability of their playback system for when they go on the road.
RED Camera Forum : Red Silent Camera?
Wow, I'm pretty shocked at how "in progress" the released Red camera appears to be. I just read that as shipped, there's NO audio recording capability. None!
I completely understand the paradigm shifting resolution thing - and the amazing long term potential for the technology.
But, I think in the early hype, people were expecting more of a super-high rez camcorder - and not so much a "specialist" device.
I hope in chasing the movie-making crowd - the Red team hasn't totally left out the standard production community that hasn't much time for re-inventing their workflow.
The movie guys are in understandable bliss.
For the corporate production guys like me, I'm REALLY glad I held off on making a RED investment. Until the audio stuff gets settled, this is a pretty unusuable rig in my regular corporate video practice.
