    Heard Around the Herd

Here's some hot threads going on right now around Creative COW!

Apple Final Cut Pro Forum : Leopard Announced October 26th
As Final Cut editors, our big deal is a true 64-bit OS. This should allow Final Cut to eventually take advantage of more RAM than it does at the moment. (Not instantly, but eventually.)

Media 100 | Media 100 HD Forum : Field Dominance
I had a lot of errors with the chassis in the mix under 8.2.3a. Most of my playback errors were happening because I was using the media100i codec with lossless turned on. When I stopped using lossless, the errors dropped considerably.

Indie Film & Documentary Forum : Location help
The need for proper permitting varys wildly. Some extreme examples: If you happen to be on Freemont Street in Las Vegas, if you as so much pull out a Fisher-Price Pixelcam within three seconds you will be decended upon by bicycle cops wanting to know if you are a "professional," and if so do you have a copy of the permitting paperwork and proof you have paid your fees. On the other end of the spectrum, you can most likely pull off a shoot in Anytown USA without any kind of permitting whatsoever.
