Cinematic compositing takes more than software. It takes careful planning, understanding the drama in every shot, and a sense of magic. It doesn't take a big budget.
In this Creative COW Magazine extra, we begin with our conversation with director Mark Allen, discussing his short film, "Least Likely." This 60-second science fiction epic was shot start to finish in 8 hours, including greenscreen shooting of a major fight sequence, on a budget that covered little more than food.

Inform the Idiot about 5.1 Surround Audio
The playback device will downmix your 5.1 to stereo mix. As long as you do a decent 5.1 mix it should downmix well.
Vegas has a downmix button that allows you to listen to your 5.1 mix downmixed to your stero speakers. Work much the same as a stereo to mono switch.

I shoot a LOT of cell phone screens. I agree that post is the best, however, the way I shot the screens in camera is with a Varicam or HVX 200 at 60fps (our phones are always rotating and we like the extra frames in post). Progressive is the way to go, you can not get a clean image with an interlaced camera. I use a small lighting tent, dial the screen's backlight as high as it will go and light the tent to taste.

how to import vector file to a Motion shape object?
Make sure the text in your illustrator file is converted to outlines. When you save it as an .ai file make sure "Create PDF Compatible File" is checked, this will allow motion to open it.
Once you have your .ai file in Motion and you've set up your emitter you need to set Shape to Image (not geometry), then set Arrangement to Random Fill and drag your .ai file in to the Image Source well.
